As per G.O (P) No. 27/2021/GAD dated 21.10.2021, it has been decided to institute the highest awards in the State, the Kerala Puraskarangal to the eminent personalities in various fields who have made outstanding contribution to the society in the model of Padma awards instituted by the Central Government. The awards given in three categories namely Kerala Jyothi, Kerala Prabha and Kerala Shri.It has been decided to give the first highest state award Kerala Jyothi to one person per year, the second highest state award Kerala Prabha to two persons per year and the third highest state award Kerala Shri to five persons per year in recognition of overall contribution in various fields.The awards will be announced on November 1st of every year on the day of Kerala Piravi. Those who have made outstanding contribution in various fields such as, arts, social service, public affairs, science and engineering, industry and commerce, literature, education, health, civil service, sports, agriculture and other fields are eligible to be considered for the awards irrespective of their colour, race, gender, caste, occupation and status. Individuals cannot apply directly for the Kerala Puraskaranagal, but anyone can nominate others. Nominations for the Kerala Puraskarangal to be announced on the occasion of Kerala Piravi day, 2025. Nominations can be submitted online from 9th April, 2025. The last date for submission of nominations is 30th, June 2025. Keerthimudra, its smaller version and the certificate which are given to the recipients of Kerala Puraskarangal is designed by the sculptor Shri.Godfrey Das.
